Weekly Topic: Verification
The Work relies on active verification. By practicing self-observation, exercises, and methods, one finds new insights and direct experiences that unexamined belief cannot attain. Belief without verification can lead to blind spots, misinformation, and over-reliance on untested assumptions.
The Work must be based on certainty stemming from evidence and experience. It's a process of active learning that leads to a deeper, nuanced, and personal understanding. We must verify everything.
Weekly Exercise
Try to notice and verify how difficult it is to read a newspaper or online newsfeed without identification arising in one's machine. We mechanically become the subject of the article unless we make efforts to divide our attention. Verifying what makes us become identified is an important step in the Work.
Our gratitude is infused with presence. In life, one finds gratitude accompanied by blind faith. — The Teacher
