Weekly Topic: The Steward

Fundamentally, a steward is a keeper of the household or a guardian of affairs.

Esoterically, a 'refined person' refers to a steward that is selective and has the ability to discriminate between 'I's. — The Teacher

It is a very human trait to seek pleasure and avoid pain. This extends to our daily tasks and routines. We naturally gravitate towards activities we find enjoyable, easy, or rewarding, and we tend to put off, or outright avoid, things we perceive as unpleasant, difficult, or boring.

Weekly Exercise

This week’s exercise is to do the things you do not like to do. Maybe you dislike doing dishes, cleaning the bathroom, or organizing your desk. Pick one and make yourself do it without complaint, but instead, bring presence to the activity.
