Each week an exercise will be posted for the aim of raising awareness and being present in the midst of ordinary life.
This week’s exercise focuses on:
The Kitchen
We spend so much time in our kitchens. Preparing meals, eating, conversing with friends and family and cleaning up after ourselves. Did I mention sleeping in the kitchen? On any given day, at any given hour we move through our kitchen mechanically opening the refrigerator, turning on the oven, chopping, pouring, measuring, mixing, reaching, the movements go on and on. Lost in our rituals, we so often find ourselves in imagination which prevents us from being present to our Self and moments spent in our living spaces.
This week each time you walk into your kitchen take a moment to pause and look. Observe yourself in your space making coffee or tea, preparing a meal or snack and cleaning up. Intentionally and quietly pick up and set down your plates, cups and utensil. Wash your dishes with care. My teacher says “Third Eye loves to be present to tiny little things.”
Slow down, find the joy in the little things and leave the sleeping in your kitchen to your pet .
