Features; The Brightest Heaven of Invention

In relation to producing or accessing higher centers, Peter Ouspensky stated that if difficulties did not exist they would have to be invented. However, given what we know about the different body types, there can be no doubt that the human machine has been created with inherent native difficulties for the sole purpose of transcending these all-too-human weaknesses into divine immortal presence. This is how we transcend essence.

Each body type has it’s strengths and weaknesses. Each body type is subject to one particular feature that is characteristic of it's essence. For example, the lunar type has a preponderance for willfulness. When this type is asked to do something, he or she cannot help but resist. A conscious effort - that is an effort based on self-remembering - for a lunar type might be to acquiesce to requests. Thus their greatest weakness becomes the portal by which higher centers are accessed. And so it is for all the other body types.

The body type that I work with is a combination of venusian-mercurial-solar. The Venusian type is subject to a feature called non-existence. The machine descends into a non-existent state., sometimes a blank stare, other times physical inertia. The mercurial part of my essence is a little more playful, sometimes (oftentimes!) so as to attract attention to itself. Vanity is mercury’s feature. The solar part of my essence is characterized by naivete. During my personal and professional interactions and encounters, learning from mistakes takes little more time than perhaps other types might take. All the body types are subject to these and other features to greater and lesser degrees.

So how do these varied weaknesses in our being become the vehicle by which we engage and prolong presence? This is where the non-expression of negative emotions becomes a key component in conscious evolution. The part of the machine that expresses negative emotions are the features. Through the non-expression of negative emotions we gain the ability to observe the machine and distinguish the difference between it and higher states of consciousness.

The seven classical body types are named after Roman deities. Our accompanying image is a representation of these deities, pure types as it were, in essence. They enjoy themselves because they have transcended their respective essences into divine, immortal and eternal presence.
