An Aim Toward Modesty
As a young child, we are unaware that we are a soul in a body, we think we are the body. We are either told we are special, or we are not told this and feel less than others. Both turn into emphasizing the importance of being special.
Never forget: simple inconspicuous Presence is all we are. — The Teacher
Fortunately, our Soul (Higher Centers) can see through this and begin a more modest approach to our lives. Otherwise, this vanity in our lower selves keeps this lie alive and makes life much more of a struggle to become something special. Ordinary is much more full of peace and love.
Presence is such a simple state that no one wants it. People want to be seen, and uncreated light wants to see and be itself. It thrives on being inconspicuous. — The Teacher
