Acceptance:
- From our friend, Dharmesh S.
Winter is fading and summer gradually is setting in. The change of season is quite perceptible in the environment. The machine is trying to adjust to the external environment and whether I choose to accept it or not, seasons will change. They will keep on changing. The right attitude is to accept the change, without losing energy over it, without complaining, without expressing negativity. The state of acceptance is a very active state; one becomes the first force in accepting what is in front of us.
One of the aspects of spiritual work on oneself is accepting who one is. Accepting one’s body type, center of gravity, alchemy, mechanical habits. The larger part of the work later is not only accepting one’s mechanicalness, but also mechanicalness of others, including our parents, children, family, friends, business associates and the society in general. Accepting my limitations, weakness and features will allow me to go beyond them and enter the conscious aspects. Lao Tzu said, “Accept yourself. Non-acceptance is the root of all the trouble.”
Being in the state of acceptance is already a step towards Self-remembering, towards consciousness, because in the state of acceptance one becomes part of the whole, one does not remain separate. One becomes objective about oneself and can understand what is required of one. Lao Tzu said, “Because one believes in oneself, one doesn’t try to convince others. Because one is content with oneself, one doesn’t need other’s approval. Because one accepts oneself, the whole world accepts him or her.” In the state of non-acceptance consciousness does not flow freely; it is clogged by the lower self. One cannot see beyond oneself. Attention is directed towards me, and I become blind to others.
Rodney Collin said, “You feel the soul by opening your heart to people, by accepting what is. The soul grows through the heart. The heart is the door of the soul. But with all ordinary man, this door is blocked with fear, prejudice, doubt. His heart is not open to the world. He only takes from it what he wants to take, in the way he wants to take it. If he could just be himself, be his whole self, without fear and without self-protection, he would already live from the soul. So, learn simply to be, to be your whole self.”
