A weekly exercise
Each week an exercise will be posted for the aim of raising awareness and being present.
The intellectual center of the lower self formulates words to be spoken while the moving center utters them from our mouth. The tone of those words often reveal our emotions at any given moment. For the most of our day, our words are mechanical and are spoken in sleep. In an awakened state, we are able to observe our words. Do we talk with clarity, love and compassion? Or do we tend to espouse our view until we are satisfied that we are heard? In the Fourth Way teachings unnecessary talk is an obstacle to presence. As our teacher says, “Useless talk means time unused for presence.”
This week make an aim to minimize your words to create space for presence. Attempt to speak from a place of love. Stop to hear what others are saying and try not to add to the conversation if there is nothing more to be said. Perhaps, like presence, you will find silence truly is golden. From our teacher, “This state is too beautiful and too definite for words.”
