A weekly exercise
Each week an exercise will be posted for the aim of living consciously.
This week, in the United States, we celebrate the tradition of Thanksgiving. A day where friends and family gather together, dine together and offer comments of “what they are grateful for.” As students our sense of gratitude is not limited to one day, rather it is an attribute we work with that unites us with all Beings, conscious or unconscious. Gratitude on any scale connects us to a higher state that nourishes BEing.
From the Teacher, "Presence and gratitude go hand in hand. Where you have one, you will find the other."
Where there is gratitude, there is humility. As one sees the beauty of what one is given, one is humbled to be the receiver. Even in moments when one is given a shock, the transformation of suffering eventually leaves space for clarity and gratitude. It is a gift to be a student of our Fourth Way school as we are able to be grateful for all that comes our way.
From our teacher, “We must be as kind as possible with one another and nourish that which is highest in all of us.”
This week, BE present to all that is given. BE grateful for and humbled by that which is given. Share this state with others through gestures of compassion, patience and loving kindness.
