A weekly exercise

A weekly exercise

Each week an exercise will be posted for the aim of living consciously.

The ups and downs of life are often described as peaks and valleys. In the tradition of our School, the valleys appearing in octaves are called intervals. They may be simple pauses or moments of time where one feels disengaged from the octave, a goal, an aim or a commitment. Intervals may be fueled by denying forces such as doubt, self judgement, boredom, fatigue or disinterest. Recognizing and accepting an interval as a temporary break reminds us to not be identified with that which one is working on or to not drift into imagination. Intervals can be used as a silent, internal gong. A gentle reminder to drop the Many I’s and return to Presence. The beauty of an interval is that it can serve as a bridge to continue forward.

“A field that has rested gives a beautiful, bountiful crop.” Ovid

This week, notice and observe when you are experiencing an interval. Feed your Self renewed energy through impressions, nature, quietude, or moments of presence with friends.
