A weekly exercise

A weekly exercise

Each week an exercise will be posted for the aim of living consciously.

We are engaged in conversation and as the other person is speaking, we utter, “I know.” We are participating in an on-line call and as a person offers a comment, we find the need to nod our head when we are in agreement. For some, a vanity characteristic compels us to show that what another is saying we already know. If we wish to stay humble and present, we can aim to drop these mechanical responses and in doing so, negate this Vanity Feature.

This week refrain from saying “I know” or nodding your head in agreement to what one is saying. Do not inner consider your own thoughts while someone else is speaking. Rather, listen with objectivity and Presence.

“There is a way between voice and presence, where information flows. In disciplined silence it opens; with wandering talk it closes” ~Rumi
