A weekly exercise

Each week an exercise will be posted for the aim of living consciously in the present moment.

How often do we fill time by looking at our cell phone? Many of us remember a time when there were no cell phones. When waiting for someone or something, we either sat still or had a conversation with a person next to us. When we ate, we focused on what we were eating not news feeds or pictures on the phone. Today, the cell phone is the great distractor that keeps us from consciousness. Undoubtedly, our lower self loves the cell phone as it is one machine that keeps our machine asleep.

This week when you find yourself alone or in a quiet space, try not to look at your cell phone. Embrace the silence. Another exercise, during meals, put your phone away or on “Do Not Disturb”.
