Whoever you are

Whoever you are holding me now in hand, Without one thing all will be useless, I give you fair warning before you attempt me further, I am not what you supposed, but far different. Who is he that would become my follower? - Walt Whitman

Dear Facebook Friends,

Walt Whitman is talking to you – to me – “Whoever you are …” as we read the lines of his poetry. He is engaging us to join him in this present moment as a comrade.

So dear friends, some of the writers and contributors to A Fourth Way School Facebook page recently held a discussion on prioritizing our writing themes. After this discussion I realized that we could also engage you, friends, to find out your thoughts and interests.

Our goal, to share our understanding and to explain to you the ideas of the Fourth Way system, would be enhanced by your questions and/or interests. We do not own these ancient ideas. We simply try to convey the knowledge and experiences we have received in using them in our daily lives as a part of a conscious School.

This Work is not a once a week engagement and then forgotten about the rest of the week. Ideally, it occurs and is remembered on a moment-to-moment basis. We try to address in our writing the building blocks of how to use these tools in our daily lives for living in each moment. These fundamental ideas we present can be assembled in different ways. Although there are some overarching ideas that need intentional sequencing, many other topics can be discussed in any order.

So, it would be helpful, dear friend, if you could peruse our glossary of Work words and concepts and give us feedback on which are most important or of interest for you to hear about in more detail. This page is meant to be instructional and interactive and we welcome your questions. If you are so inclined, please take a look at the Fourth Way Glossary found under the Files tab at the top of the page and post your interests in the comments section below. Feel no compulsion to do so, this is just an invitation.

While perusing the Glossary, enjoy this sound meditation [10:18] of William Byrd’s double motet, “Ne Irascaris Domine” and “Civitas Sancti Tui” sung by Voces8. https://youtu.be/Wo8qfyK9c3c?si=AALheywxpefMIpzZ
