Reflection on Reflections

Reflection on Reflections

In this recent photo I snapped of sunflowers, I noticed that the flowers' reflections differ on different parts of the counter. The reflection in the shaded areas is more pronounced, while the reflection in the unshaded area is generally less visible or more variable. I wonder about the parallels to my psyche or consciousness.

I too reflect, am “super-permeated” or opaque to the impressions around me at times. After traveling across the U.S. for more than a month, the sights and sounds of new places penetrate me sometimes and sometimes less. My ability to be awake and to observe myself and my world is variable. What sticks, what reflects, or what disappears in its reception?

Do you notice a fluctuation in your being, like I do (or like the vase of sunflowers) when you reflect on your moments? What are the forces or conditions that account for that variation?
