Numbers
We could also define consciousness by number. According to this division, men and women number one, two, and three are unconscious. They have their center of gravity—the part that plays the role of commander, the part that makes decisions and perceives the world—in one of the lower functions. Instinctive-moving center in the case of the man number one, emotional for man number two, intellectual for man number three.
Whoever meets a school can become, after years of serious work, a man or woman number four. The center of gravity of a man or woman number four is artificial; it is created through work on oneself, one’s aim. We begin with observation, we balance functions, we work to evoke higher states, and to not fall too low when these are lacking. It takes a long time and there are no guarantees. Recognizing that he has no will, a man number four submits to the will of a teacher. One can only reach the level of a man number four in a school environment.
Men and women five, six, and seven are conscious. They have begun to earn something more permanent. Through self-remembering and the transformation of suffering and negative emotions, they have accumulated and crystallized higher hydrogens. The higher the number, the more intense and permanent the achievement.
But these, until we experience them, are just numbers. I’d rather not dwell too much on this aspect, which can lead to imagination.
