Enlightened Men and Women

G.I. Gurdjieff, the person most responsible for bringing the Fourth Way to the West, is considered an enlightened Conscious Being. His teachings of Self-Remembering and other exercises have brought students down the path to higher consciousness. As Gurdjieff’s teachings rippled through the Western world, we still see man a century later, as a machine that needs to be awakened to a state of Presence.

A photograph of the cave of Lascaux taken in 1939 shows us the scale of the cave paintings. The last journey of Gurdjieff's life was to this cave. It was his final effort, and he alone suspected that the images were esoteric. ─ The Teacher

Weekly Exercise

Gurdjieff called exercises to break mechanical habits “The Work.” This week, observe your habitual reaction to a recurring experience. Try not to turn on the radio as soon as you get in your car or have a cup or coffee or tea as soon as you start your day.
