Autumnal Tints

by Henry David Thoreau

Regeneration is one of the six processes which is set in motion by the Law of Three. Rodney Collin explains that it is characterized by something that was first created naturally and then is re-created a second time through will, intention and purpose. “The very form, in some mysterious way, re-creates itself. Thus regeneration, for a human being, is to recreate himself as a conscious man." A man or a woman, first created naturally, is reborn into his or her own soul or higher centers.

In his essay, Thoreau observes nature, which is first created naturally and is characterized by the processes of Growth, Digestion, Elimination, Disease, and Healing and is finally transformed through will, intention and purpose into its second birth: it is transformed into art. Rodney Collin says, “in the world of men, great artists, poets, or musicians strive to organize their material, whether paint, stone or words, in an order which imitates the order of cosmic creation.”
